Strong Growth Continues for Swedish Game Developers
One in ten people on the planet has played a Swedish video game. Swedish game development is a phenomenon that has undergone a transformation from a marginalized entertainment industry to Sweden's greatest cultural export. In 2014, the industry had a turnover of almost one billion Euro.

This is shown in Game Developer Index 2015, Swedish Games Industry's compilation of Swedish game developers' annual reports. A majority of companies are profitable, employment increased by 23 percent and the number of women increased by 39 percent.

Start-ups are clearly on the rise with more than 40 new companies being registered in 2014. and another 30 being dounded but has as of yet not released their first anual report. A growing entrepreneurship is an indicator of a maturing industy and grants valuable results in tersm of businesses, employment and experience.

Including various acquisitions, the total value of Swedish game developers exceeded 2.7 billion Euro in 2014.
